Astrology aspectsAn aspect is an angular relationship between two positions in a chart. It describes how two astrological functions meet; the planets show what is involved, while the aspect shows the style of the interaction.

ASC, DESC, MC and ICASC–DESC and MC–IC are two opposing axes calculated from birth time and location. They anchor the house system and provide sensitive reference points for natal interpretation and transits.

The 12 housesHouses divide the chart into twelve areas connected with different fields of experience. A planet shows the function, a sign describes its mode of expression, and a house shows where that function is emphasized.

Planets in the chartPlanets and luminaries represent different functions within astrology. In a natal chart they describe a lasting pattern; as transiting bodies they describe current cycles interacting with that pattern.

Planetary dignitiesEssential dignity is a traditional framework for describing how comfortably a planet is thought to operate in a zodiac sign. It modifies context; it does not make a planet automatically good, bad, strong or weak in every situation.

Orb and exact timingThe orb is the distance from the exact angle of an aspect. An applying aspect is moving toward exactness; a separating aspect is moving away. The exact date marks the calculated peak within the searched window.

Retrograde planetsRetrograde motion is an apparent reversal seen from Earth. Astrology treats it as interpretive context, but it does not cancel a planet or guarantee delays, failures or a particular event.

Nodes, Lilith and ChironThe lunar nodes and Lilith are calculated points, while Chiron is a small Solar System body. Astrology assigns them symbolic meanings, but they should not be interpreted as ordinary planets.
